A Body of Work: Finding your voice in an authentic way

Over the past 14 years of teaching, the #1 desire I hear from artists is to be able to create a cohesive body of work. To do this we must first uncover our voice. Together we will explore this path in an environment of curiosity and inspired limitation designed to foster authenticity in the work. In my own journey to my voice I have discovered richness in the inner landscape. Our beliefs, desires, and fears affect our ability to express ourselves truly. We will practice self awareness coupled with practical experimentation to empower your creative practice.

The task: create a body of work

Through this process we will discover what may be gumming up the works. Do you need to take a detour to work on technique? Do you need help with focus, organization, or accountability? Do you know what you want to create but have fear about doing it? Are you unable to choose which direction to go in?

This class is about the road to individuation. I ask each mentee to communicate with me and advocate for themselves as we work together.

In addition to creating your own work, you will get to see me create a body of work in my private studio space, something I’ve never offered before.

How long this takes will be different for each artist, you may spend a month with me to get a push in the right direction or stay until the body of work is complete, it’s up to you.

How it Works

• A semi- private class with a max of five students.

• Mentoring will take place the Second and Fourth Saturdays each month (barring holiday adjustments) at my San Francisco studio.

• Six hours - 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm with a break for lunch. This is the equivalent of weekly classes, consolidated into 2 intensive days per month with ample time between classes to work independently.

• Registration will remain open to all if there is space available. If the class is full I will offer the spots first to currently enrolled students, then to the waitlist, then to the public after that. If there’s no waitlist button below you may register now.

• August Landscape Painting is offered to everyone, you do not need to have been enrolled in my in studio mentoring program. You may sign up at any time for class days ala carte. Registration link button below. This is also where mentees will be able to make up any missed classes from the year.
